While the campaign and many adverts focus on drinking and driving, it is imperative to know that DUI's stem from a lot more than just alcohol.
1. Prescription pills: With prescription pills being so easily accessible, many forget that on the bottle the pharmacists often warn about taking medication and driving. Think twice before taking any prescription pills prior to driving.
2. Marijuana, and likely to become Medical Marijuana: With the likely passage of the Medical Marijuana amendment in the coming months, it is important to know that smoking and driving can result in a DUI. Smoking will impair you, and thus it is not safe to step behind the wheel of a vehicle.
3. Club Drugs like Ecstasy and Molly: These drugs are becoming more common by the day, and will leave the user impaired for hours. Simply put, it is absolutely not safe to take these drugs, let alone drive with them in your system.
The point is that any intoxicant that impairs your ability to drive can result in a DUI, or worse, your death and the death of innocent others. Make the right choice when you drive, and always make sure to designate a driver.
