January 25, 2016
In early January, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairman Christopher Hart spotlighted “2016 Most Wanted Safety Improvements,” which honed in on ending impaired driving.
From the National Law Review: "The NTSB is a federal agency charged with investigating serious transportation accidents. While it is not a policymaking body, its recommendations carry significant weight with members of US Congress, state legislators and law enforcement personnel."
One of the major recommendations of the NTSB was for States across the country to lower the legal limit for driving impaired with a blood alcohol content (BAC) from 0.08 to 0.05.

Senior Driver Safety Awareness
December 14, 2015
Did you know 36 million adults age 65+ drive in the United States? As this number continues to grow, conditions that affect driving become more prevalent and often reduce comfort and control behind the wheel.
While older drivers are notoriously safe drivers, age-related conditions make them more likely to be injured or killed in a crash.
The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety and University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute outlines the top six auto safety tech features that can potentially reduce crashes and improve the comfort of driving for older adults.
These include: Forward collision warning/mitigation, Automatic crash notification, Park assist with rearview display, Park assist with cross-traffic warning, Semi-autonomous park assist, Navigation assistance, and Self-Regulating Driving.

National Driving Deaths On The Rise
November 30, 2015
After a successful decline in roadway deaths in the last decade, the NHTSA has reported a dramatic spike in fatality statistics from 2014-2015.
Florida is not immune to the same factors increasing traffic deaths across the country. It is up to the individual driver to be responsible and aware of automobile safety: Drive defensively. Wear your seatbelt. Use child safety seats and booster seats. Check your tire pressure. Don't drink and drive or drive while fatigued. The list goes on.
